I just had a thought on a Bandy movie. How about, instead of a movie, make an episode of that History channel show "Air Aces"? The characters could be played by actors of any age. Talk amongst yourselves, No big whoop.

Sigga should be played by Julie Wallace, the actress that played Maj Iceborge on the 5th element. Blonde her hair and she would be perfect.

Ether Mike Richards, aka Cozmo Kramer, or that guy who played the janitor on the tv show Scrubs, Neil Flynn. They are tall and physically expressive and pretty dang funny. I have been a Bandy fan for over 30 years.

Finding an actor who was a fan of the books would be a big asset. I expect the trick would be convincing the producers that the stories aren't simply slapstick comedy about a "bumbling" hero.

No No No!

Bandy belongs in a book only!

No actor could do him justice, and no director could cope with the situations without diluting our hero...

And he is too precious to be given (in a thus corrupted form) to the mass public who can't be bothered reading about him.

How about Kiefer Sutherland or Bruce Greenwood? Both have a great following of fans, not to mention their individual talents.

Odd that I read this thread, because I've often thought about a mini series, and who would act in it.

My opinion, I think Brendan Fraser (Canadian actor) from the recent Mummy series would be great.  He can do comedy, action, and serious roles.  He is a big fellow, can do a really annoying voice, but is perhaps too handsome.  Who says Bandy can't be handsome?

For Katherine Lewis, I'd go with Keira Knightly, because I'm sure she can do a sexy squint and would be great for the plain part without make up.   Roll Eyes

Now he has already done his WWI movie, it might be hard to do another, especially as Vimy was a bit more serious than 3 Cheers for Me.  Even if the underlying theme is pretty similar.

How about Paul Gross:
He could probably pass as a horse.

Many people on this site have suggested that a Bandy movie or TV miniseries would be in order.    But who would star?

When I first discovered these books in the early 70's, Donald Sutherland would have been perfect.  He has the height,  the voice, the face and the attitude.  He is even Canadian, and thus would truly appreciate the nuances of the character.  Alas, now I fear he is a bit too old.

I am not really all that "visually oriented",  so I know nothng about modern screen actors.  Does anyone have any suggestions for the role?
