Hello,

I imagine that this is a tough one.  My Grandpa John McDonald died in 1954 in Middleborough Mass. USA.  He was born in 1886 in Springhill NS.  His parents were John McDonald and Anne McNally, both born in Nova Scotia, but where I don't know.  My Grandpa had a brother named Dan, I don't know if there were other siblings.  He came into the USA in 1905 or 1906 and I think into Houlton Maine.  by 1907 or so he was down in the New Bedford Mass area and married Isabel Chase and had two children by her (son named John and a daughter named Catherine).  He later divorced and then married again (to my Grandmother, Mary Josephine Boucher, in Middleborough Mass) and had three children, James, Shirley, and Everett.  None of the older generation in my fathers family knew much about him, because he did not talk much about where he came from and lived apart from his new wife and children, in fact, everybody thought that he was from Maine.  He was a large man, 6 feet 4 inches, over 300 lbs and very strong.  He could not read nor write but he could sign his name.  He was a Catholic, but not the church-going kind.  He worked in Middleborough as a guard in a prison for the criminally insane for 30 years till just before he died in 1954.

Does anybody know anything about him?

Hi, I'm thinking your ancestor is related to mine. I'm trying to connect Alexander Charles "A.C." MacDonald to his family. According to his death certificate he was born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, Canada on Nov 4, 1889. His father's name was John MacDonald his mother's unknown. He moved to Vancouver, B.C. abt 1933 where he died in 1963. He married a Laura Pauline Sather and had two children George Henry MacDonald and Elaine MacDonald. Do you think there might be a connection to your MacDonald?
Thanks,
Kathy
