Hi all!!

Was wondering if there have ever been any movies made about the disasters in 1891, 1956 and 1958?
I lost an uncle in the 1956 (Ernel Spence)  I have only read little blurbs in books.  I also seen the 2-3 min. clip on CBC about th '58 bump.

Thanx
Karla

Karla, there was a documentary on The History Channel
about the "bump".  I know that it can be bought and I believe that it is episode #13 on The Disasters of the Century" shows.  I just tried to find it on the internet(Historychannel.com) but could not locate it.  Maybe you will have better luck. Good luck.

Karla,
I just came across a book about the '58 Bump.
"LAST MAN OUT" by Melissa Fay Greene.  I just started reading it today and seems like a good one to read.
Just thought I would share this with you.
I found it by accident at a local book store in the Canadian history section.  You may want to check it out.

If you try the "cbc" web site.  While I checked out this site, I was able to watch old CBC news footage, plus other links about the Springhill mines.

In 1998, the CBC show the Passoniate Eye, did a documentry called Blood on the Coal. It was in regards to the 1958 Bump. It had old CBC news footage and as  well, it interviewed some of the survivors.

Regards

Jeff

I've read that book last man out and I didn't like it, it's a book I'd never read again. I've read blood on the coal many times and will read it again. I've been told that a lot of stories that are the truth of what really happened has been kept between a certain few who were there I would like to see a book with all the whole truth in it not a select few stories.
