My father has always been captivated by the mining tradegy.  Last year we had a chance to visit the museum,  and it was great.  I am wondering if there is any copy of the original recording of the Springhill disaster song by Maurice Ruddick.  We were unable to obtain one on our visit.

I too would love a copy of this recording . I remember my mother singing it on occasion.   It is one her dad used to sing to her when she was young.

I have found one recording of the song.  It is by an old blue grass artist, Bill Clifton.  The CD is call The Early Years.

Maurice's daughter,  Val MacDonald, recorded her dad's
song on her cd.  It's called "Yours Truly".  I can't say how one would aquire such though. I got mine from Val two years ago (via mail as I live in Austin TX.).

Val and her sisters Ellen and Sylvia both sing on this song and they did it live at the Schools reunion last summer (7/05). Got a standing O!!

Great song. Very moving.
