MACDONALD/MCDONALD

I found lots of info about the family before they came to Canada but am at a stand still after they arrived.  G-grandfather was James McDonald married to Mary Boyd Calder.  They married in Scotland 1888.  They had one son Thomas MacDonald who married Margaret Brown Whittle. I know all the info on Thomas and Margaret children. What I can't seem to find is when James and Mary and Thomas and a bunch of Calders came to Canada. I know that they lived on Morris Street (#22). I'm stuck on the early days in Springhill.  Thomas was in the Army during WW1 but that's all I know about his military time and would like to know more.  James died in the mines #2 in 1922.  All are buried in the Hillside Cemetery.  Any thing that would help with the early years would be great.

I saw your message and wonder if you can help me. I'm trying to connect my ancestor Alexander Charles MacDonald to a MacDonald family in Springhill, Cumberland, Nova Scotia, Canada where he was born Nov 4, 1889. According to his death certificate his father's name was John MacDonald who was also born in Nova Scotia, Canada. Alexander Charles "A.C." married a Laura Sather and moved to B.C. abt. 1933 where he died in 1963. Does he fit into you family at all?
Thank you,
Kathy

Hi Debbi. I to am looking for information on James and Mary McDonald. My Great Grandfather, William Ralph Wilkie came to Canada in 1902 with the McDonalds.( My Great Grandfather's mother, was Elizabeth Boyd.) I found them in the 1911 census living in Springhill, but after that I cant seem to find them. Also listed on the census was John Miller, the McDonalds Grandson. Could these be the same people?

Thank you so much Cathy. I now know how James and Mary fit into my searching. Do you happen to know more about the Miller's? Mary was the Sister of my Great Great Grandmother. Any help you could give to tie in the rest would be wonderful. Taryn
