In 1881 can.census in Albion Mines, N.S. known today as Stellarton

Samuel Reid (sr) (English) b. Quebec 1848/49...is a miner in Albion Mines

m. (Scottish)Jane ? b. N.S.1848/49

children of Samuel and Jane are;

1,Sarah...10 yrs
2.Isabella..8 yrs
3.John.......5 yrs
4.Peter......3 yrs
5.Samuel Reid (jr) 1 year old

20 years later no sign of wife Jane and the children are grown up. I found Samuel (jr) in Halifax and one other brother in N.S. too

1901 census Samuel Read/1911 census SamuelReid (same family)

Samuel Reid b. Quebec 1848/44 English...miner in Springhill NS

m.Jessie ? b. N.S. English

Had 8 children.......

Malcome 1884/85

Agness 1886

William 1888

Anna 1890

Rachel 1892

Effie 1895

Charles 1897

Marion 1905

---------------------------------------------------------

the mystery? Is this the same Samuel Reid?

We know the birth dates in the census can be off by a few years and maybe the information given to them was a family member who guessed at the birthdates.

Can anyone shed some light on my brick wall?

Who are your grandmothers parents? Can you share your Reid family roots? Does any of my Reid family sound familiar?
