I am researching the Coon family in Springhill. A lot of my family still lives in Springhill, and you might know my grandmother Pearl (Newcombe) McCabe. I am researching her maternal grandfather's family, particularly her grandfather Alexander C. Coon's first marriage to Ethel J. McLean and their daughter Sadie Coon. He then went on to marry my great great grandmother Ivanetta 'Nettie' Livingstone.

Alex. married Ethel in 1896, and they had Sadie that same year. Ethel and Sadie are mentioned in the 1901 census, but have 'vanished' by 1911, and by then Alex. had remarried and had two children.

Ethel J. McLean was born in Pictou Co., but according to records her parents, Abner and Sarah (Baxter) McLean moved to Springhill with Ethel and her brother Dan in tow. According to records, Abner was a miner.

Alexander 'Sandy' Coon was born in 1870, and Ethel was born in 1877. Nettie Coon was born in 1891. Any information you might have would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to email me at abbe.appel@gmail.com

I know that Sandy and Nettie and family are buried in Hillside Cemetary. It's Ethel and Sadie that I can't find any more info about. No death records, divorce records. Nothing.
