  Looking for information on following:
Ronald McDonald 26 of Maccan b. ca.1842 in Mira, Cape Breton; son of Angus & Margaret supposively living in Cumberland Co with the rest of their family at this time.
ronald is listed as a blacksmith.

On 17 January 1868 he married Nancy Taggart 22, daughter of James & Mary Taggart of Parrsboro.

In 1871 census, Nancy is shown as living @ the home of her parents in Parrsboro under her married name of McDonald, but I have not being able to find mention of Ronald.

What happened to Ronald??  Was he away at sea?? (not likely as a blacksmith could find plenty of work in Cumberland Co without having to go to sea. Did he pass away? run away?  or move away??

Since 1871 is the last year in which I have been able to find a record of Nancy's existence perhaps she left to meet up with him at a new location.  Another possibility is that she might have been ill and was being cared for by her family and then ultimately passed away between 1861-1871.

Has anyone any records of Ronald and Nancy?? Is there a gravestone somewhere??

Any info greatly appreciated.  Thanks Wayne

Hi;
I found the Nancy Taggart in her parents household.;
I also found a Ronald McDonald in the 1881 Maccan census.with a new wife Annie Margaret Lowe.his parents were given as.Angus & Margaret.Ronald as a widower.
In 1891 R.W.McDonald ae 48.Annie ae.28.Minnie ae 10.
Arthur ae 6.;Georgina ae.4;Hayward ae.2.;Alta ae.0 months;
& in 1901,no Ronald.Annie ae.39;21 July 1861;Minnie
Dortha,ae 20;Arthur ae.16,09 Sept.1884;Georgina ae.14.14 Nov.1886.;Alta ae.10 ,25 Dec.1890;Andrey.ae 6.27 Apr.1894.
In order to find out when they died I need to go out to Amherst & try to find a Cemetery where they might be buried.or yes  when Ronald was married as a widower.he was called Roland ;so I don't know if this is the same one you are looking for.
Catherine.

Thank you Cathy -  I was aware of this other R. McDonald and his marriage to Ann Lowe but I did not have any confirmation that this was the  same person. I also have not found mention of death of Nancy nor a marked tomb for her in any of the Cumb. Co. cemeteries- (as yet anyway). Later this Ronald/Roland comes up in census as  Robert with the same family members.  I was hoping that someone at this website might have McDonald family info as he became quite a prominent business person in Springhill. I had submitted an earlier request into the Cumb Co Gen Web Page last year and had not received any conformation nor denial of the existence of this connection. I had this same thought but then thought I might be just making the data fit where I wanted it to fit and didn't feel too comfortable with that. I'll have to keep looking for conformation. Thanks again for your help  - Wayne
