I was able to find some information in the Moss Diaries by the Springhill Heritage Group.

According to the Moss Diaries he immigrated around 1930 and worked in the mines for 20 years.

Bill and June Jackson lived on McFarlane St, near the Boran's and Brown's.
As far as I know Gail Jackson and Judy(Donald) Laurie still live in Springhill. You may be able to contact them for more information.
