HI
My great Grandfather John Delay Ricketts arrived in Canada in July 1903 en route to Spring Hill Junction N.S.  His wife said he died there and remarried in 1905.  I am interested in finding out where he died and how if possible.  Can anyone give me help?

Thank you in advance.
Susan

I checked the Historical records of Nova Scotia and nothing there - deaths are only on line for 1864-1877 and 1 Oct 1908 -1957.

Marriages are listed for 1864-1932.

I checked the Moss Diaries and nothing there.

The following information may be helpful in your search. Did John Ricketts come to Canada from another country and did his family come with him, did he have children that would have remained in Canada, did his wife remarry in Canada and the names. If they remained in Canada, do you know where they settled. If you have his religion, you may be able to locate his burial records in that way, some churches keep good records. Was he a miner or a farmer or other occupation. He died between the 1901 and 1911 census, so unless he was living in Canada in 1901, you won't find any information there.

If you can provide more information, might be able to find something.

Hello! Susan .....

I cannot find a burial for John Delay Ricketts in Springhill, Springhill Junction or Athol, the most likely places if buried locally.

He was not a casualty of the coal mines in Sringhill so may have followed an occupation of the railway industry in Springhill Junction.
