Rev. Joseph Hale

I'm trying to establish if the Rev. Joseph Hale mentioned in the index to "Our Goodly Heritage" is the same Joseph Hale who features in my family tree. Can anyone tell me what information is given about him in the book (index says page 12)?

If anyone has any further information at all about Joseph I would be very grateful  - if I can establish if this is the right man it might solve quite a few mysteries for the family!

Hello! Paula .....

The information on Pg 12 of Springhill Our Goodly Heritage notes a bit of humor about Rev. Joseph Hale as he was well along in his three hour dissertation to his congregation on a very hot summer afternoon and does not contain any family connections.

Here are a few notes I have made over past years which may shed a bit of light on Rev. Hale and his family.
................................................................................
...................................................
EASTERN CHRONICLE - NEW GLASGOW, N.S.
APR 01 1875
No Date - Married at the Wesleyan Church, Springhill, Cumb. Co., by the Rev. R. Tweedie, assisted by the Rev. W. Alcorn, Rev. Joseph Hale, to Miss Kate S. Fraser, both of Springhill.
................................................................................
....................................................
(SPRINGHILL METHODIST)
Reverend Joseph Hale . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1874
Reverend William Alcorn. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 1877
................................................................................
....................................................
Notes by Bertha I Scott, Springhill writer:
The first regular minister to be called was the Rev. Joseph Hale (1874-77) a young preacher, still living at his home in Dartmouth, N.S.
................................................................................
................................................

If the above provides a connection to your family I would appreciate hearing from you as I am researching data on Methodist ministers who have served in Springhill.
Happy hunting!

Hi Carl

Thanks so much for your reply, and apologies for my delay in getting back to you. I have been doing some more research and I believe my Rev Joseph Hale is the same man. I have information on his family background prior to his emigration to Nova Scotia if that would be of any interest to you.

Hello! Paula .....

I am pleased the information I provided was of interest to you.
In reply to your offer to provide information on Rev. Hale dating prior to his arriving in this country, I would appreciate having it to add to his file.
Thank you and if it is more convenient than posting, please send it to:

<carl.demings@ns.sympatico.ca>

Kind regards!

I tried to send you the info I promised last night (sorry it's taken so long, I've found loads out and wanted to collate it before sending), but the email bounced back saying your mailbox was full. Do you have an alternative email address or shall I try again in a few days?
