Hi Bill:  Just thought I would let you know that my grandfather was Amos Porter.  Your late father was my mother, Lorraine's, brother.  My Mom lives with me now in New Brunswick.  Anyway, just thought I would say hello.  We've never met but you are my cousin.   Bye bye for now, Edie.

Hello.  I am looking for the parents of William Henry PORTER b 1800 in Nova Scotia and his wife Mary Ann Cotton possibly b 1810 in Ireland
Their first three children were born in Nova Scotia Eliza Marinda, Joseph George and William Allan.  The next three in Yarmouth Twp., Elgin Cty., Ontario then UPPER CAN, Ann Hamutal, John Harding and Nancy.  All passing away in south western Ontario in Elgin and Middlesex Counties.

Just a stab in the dark but hoping someone out there knows of this family.
Thank you and Best Regards
Alethea

Hello Bill, I'm not sure if you can still see this post but I am a descendant of Art and his wife Annie.  The Porters have an interesting history.  They have ties to an interesting French refugee and many ties to the Mayflower!

If you would like to contact me I can be reached at ttrosmond (at) Hotmail.com

Some of the mayflower passengers the Porters are related to include Thomas Rogers, and children born to William Porter and Martha Pineo (apparently) would be related to Henry Sampson, John Alden, Myles Standish and Priscilla Mullins who were all passengers of the Mayflower.

My understanding is that Art was really Salt of the Earth.  When he married Annie she was widowed twice over and he took her, her mother and all of her children in and told her she would never have to work again.  He worked the evening/night shift at the mine so he could have more time with the kids during the day.  Because there were so many kids/grandkids in the home Art was often called ArtDad and Annie was called AnnieMa.
