Post by jack Dunster on 26. Jul 2004 at 19:25

first off... my name is jack and long ago I discovered the Bandy books - The last I read was ME Bandy, You Cissy. and I am happy to see that there is a web-site dedicated to the Bandy books, Now my question - why does his work appeal to so many people?

I've always been interested in aviation and dry humour.  Donald Jack is the only author to successfully combine the two.

And though the books are darn funny, I'm not sure how "broad" the appeal is.  There is little traffic on these forums, and very few of my friends even know of the author or any of the books.  It's a darn shame.  The Bandy Papers are a great read for students and adults alike, and a great change of pace from typical Canadian fiction, and other works of Canadian "humour" that fail to humour me in much in the same way that American beer fails to interest me.
